Keeping Faith

A third and final series of Keeping Faith has been commissioned by the BBC, following the success of series 1 and 2.   It will be interesting to see what impact the Corona Virus epidemic will have on filming and the production / transmission schedules...........

Keeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher was originally developed by S4C. Produced for BBC Wales and S4C by Vox Pictures, in association with APC and Nevision, with support from Welsh Business Finance. Directed by Pip Broughton and Judith Dine, written by Matthew Hall and Pip Broughton, produced by Pip Broughton and Llyr Morus, filming will begin in 2020. The series is expected to air on S4C in October 2020 and on BBC One Wales February 2021 and will be available across the UK exclusively on BBC iPlayer.

The Snow Spider

This is set and partly filmed in Wales, and is something of a rarity since it is a "big" series intended for children.  Series One has five episodes -- and it looks as if a second series is planned.......

The series (this is the second adaptation for TV) 1s based on a trilogy of children's stories by Jenny Nimmo, and the script has been written by Owen Sheers.  The series is made by Leopard Pictures, and is currently screening.

It looks like fun, and although it is promoted by CBBC for a wide audience, it;s nice to see that the Welsh language is featured very strongly.

PS.  I've watched the whole series of The Snow Spider now, an although it had quite positive reviews, I was not that impressed.  The first four episodes had a certain charm, in spite of rather stiff acting from some of the cast and a somewhat clunky script.  But sadly, I thought that the series fell very flat on its face in the final episode.  It lost all its dramatic drive, and the actors seemed bored!  The special effects were not all that special.  I would have liked much more imaginative direction and tighter editing.  As I viewer, I found myself drifting away, to the point where I did not really care what happened to any of the characters.  And the ending was very unconvincing.  There you go -- my personal opinion.  Others will no doubt disagree with me!
